WHEN THE AFRICAN WAKES
Kihura Nkuba

"There are certain
things worth fighting for. The idea of White supremacy has been so rewarding
that Western civilisation is inconceivable without it. To kill white supremacy
is tantamount of killing all Why-T people. This book is a threat to Western
civilisation."
Professor Killson
Whiteman
"This Kihura Nkuba.
Whoever he is, shows how Black writers can be dangerous. He had no business
knowing what he knows and how dare he writes what he found. I am not a racist
and have Black friends, but the idea of Blacks being first is scary."
Dr. Les Savage
"I am a Christian who
goes to Church and believes in a White Jesus. I am not going to change that. But
there comes a time when truth has to be told as Jesus said in the Book of John.
I wish I had read this book in my Sunday School."
Rev. Tiny Brown
"Someone had to
colonise the world and we did. Someone had to kill the Blacks and we did. So
what."
Dupe Goldberg (Jewish
Fraternity)
I
cannot smile at a tree,
Or
shout at a tiger,
Pick
a flower, if it did not pick me.
I
am a village man, I cannot complain,
I
am a Black man with no restraint.
I
was give to go up,
Never
to come down.
I
was initiated to set fire to things.
Look,
comes a time when the bearer of a shield sleeps, but you know
when
he wakes up, his spear will speak.
About the
Author

This man is not one
of the greatest authors of our time. He is not courted by politicians and
academics alike. He has not published hundreds of articles or periodicals in
prestigious journals. He has never had a column in the New York Times, or been
on the cover of Newsweek Magazine. This man has not written about alleged incest
in Black communities, will not win a Common Wealth Award or the Booker Prize.
This man does not use language in the way that flatters the reader, does not
band the truth to allow a gradual understanding. This man could be any man who
has an urgent message and is looking for the best quick way of delivering it.
There is a monster on your door and you have been warned. This is a prophet of
our time who must be accepted in his own home. Rise up for the griot. But
this man knows who he is and he knows what will really happen,
"When the
Afrikan Wakes."
EXCERPTS
"Then God created the world.
She created the first people. This God all wise all mighty and all wonderful,
created Black people. He then through them, created all colours? He
knew that colour was important. He created the green, the red, the yellow,
etc. Why do you say colour does not matter? How do you choose your
clothes, or your flowers?"
"The creator created the world,
the world created Black people, Black people created culture and civilisations,
in the end they created White people. White people created hell, hell
brought chaos into the world and that is where we are right now."
"There never was a time when a
Black man was not, there never will be time when Black people will cease to
be. We are eternal. We are before Alpha and after Omega."
"You are what you do, what you
know and what you eat. If you eat meat you will die. If you drink milk, you will
die. Not die when everyone else dies, but die before the cow dies.
You have sunk so low that you have even been tricked by the cow. You think
you get protein from it. But the good old cow does not eat meat, or drink
milk. To get protein the cow eats grass."
"If a fox stole three of your
chickens, when you eventually catch up with the fox, you would not sit and ask
the animal anything. You would not establish a commission to ensure that the
right fox is penalised. Any fox will do. This is what we have to do with
White folks when it comes to reparations. George might not be the one that
killed six hundred million of your people, but he surely looks like the one that
did."
I
am speaking to you
I
wrote this note, hoping that you can invite me to your mind and consciousness to
whisper some words of wisdom, teachings, sayings and assertions of the Afrikan
thoughts, processes, conceptions and truth. I am a prophet of
correction. I am sent to lay before your immortal eyes, the ways in which
Afrikan people constructed their meanings how they interacted with other beings,
humans or inanimate, living or ancestral, creator or any other divine
persons. I present to you a challenge, which confronts those who
have to be the custodians of our ancient and burdensome legacy, guardian of what
was, through pain and joy, achieved. Architect of the moral and righteous
society that we built before, and we should build again, to live in and leave
behind. Make you, Afrikan that overflows with fruits of your labour,
unlimited opportunities, so that she can, as of old, speak her own special truth
to a world, made hostile by those who never had their own words...
Why? You who comes from the same intestine as my mother, do I have to call
on other people to bear witness to my truth? If I speak truth, then my
special truth will compliment everyone else's. As an Afrikan, I was born
with that extra sense, develop understanding with animals, and lay beds of
thorns at the feet of those, whose desire is, to sow bad weeds in ancient
gardens of overfilling grain and ripening fruits... You will probably say,
you have no time to listen. I will say, create it; knowing as we Afrikans
teach, 'that which exists is that which was created' and therefore that which
exists is there to be created..."
